Mother’s Day 5k – South Park
Kick off Mother’s Day by getting active! A new family tradition designed to celebrate moms and moms to be, the Mother’s Day 5K is a great activity for the whole family. There will be fun activities for kids, including face painting, bounce houses, arts and crafts, and even an informal “Kids Dash.” The 5K kicks off at 8:00 am on May from Dillard’s South Park Mall, and the Kids Dash will follow at 9:15. Mother’s Day Tea at the Ballantyne Hotel
Every weekend, guests to the Ballantyne Hotel have the chance to experience the luxury hotel’s unique take on classic teas offered in England’s finest tea houses with a touch of Southern flair. On Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8, they will offer a special Mother’s Day Tea. Adults and children will enjoy a variety of tea blends from the Rare Tea Company, the official tea of the Royal Family. Mother’s Day at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
On Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is paying tribute to moms throughout the region with free admission for moms all weekend long! Moms and their families can stroll the gardens, listen to live music, shop the garden store, and enjoy food and beverages from various food trucks. The first 250 mothers admitted each day will receive a free potted plant courtesy of Rountree Nursery and Supply. The Garden is open 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and all activities run from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Non-moms/non-members pay regular garden admission ($14.95 for adults, $7.95 for children, $12.95 for seniors). On Sunday, May 8, Crumbz Bakery, LLC, will offer a Mother’s Day Cookie Decorating Workshop at the Crews Recreation Center in Matthews, NC. This beginner-level class suited for ages 13+ will cover royal icing basics like outlining and flooding, leading participants through step-by-step instructions for creating a beautiful vase of one dozen cookie flowers complete with a vase and name tag.
